To Attend a Post‑Secondary School

Have you been working hard to be an exemplary student, athlete, and community volunteer? Have you shown leadership, resiliency, discipline, team spirit, and dedication to your team?

We know it isn’t easy to juggle all the demands placed on your time during high school! That’s why we would like to recognize your efforts as you move on to the next exciting stage of your life – university or college! 🙌

What Scholarships are Available?

There are four $1,500 scholarships available to graduating athletes, including;

1. Scholarship of Excellence (Male)
2. Scholarship of Excellence (Female)
3. 📣 New! Kerry MacLean Scholarship (Male)
4. 📣 New! Christina MacLean Scholarship (Female)

What are the Criteria?

• Applicants must demonstrate excellence in academics and athletics.
• Applicants must demonstrate how they exemplify Maverick principles of community service, dedication, resiliency, leadership, team spirit, and heart.
• Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution (university or college).
• Applicants must submit two letters of reference to demonstrate:
  1. academics (i.e. teacher);
  2. community involvement (i.e. leader/supervisor within  a non-profit organization, leader/supervisor of a extra-curricular activity within your school);
• Applicants must provide their coach’s contact information to discuss how you demonstrate Maverick values, on and off the court.
• The applicant must be an athlete graduating from an Ottawa-area high school.

Please note that the applicant is not required to continue post-secondary participation in a varsity sport.

If the applicant has received a scholarship from an American College or University, he/she is not eligible for the MYOF scholarship.

What is the Deadline?

Applications open on April 1, 2026 and the deadline is May 3, 2026 at 11:59pm.

When will the winners be announced?

The winners will be announced at the Maverick Volleyball Banquet on June 6, 2026.

How do I apply?

• Complete the Scholarship Application Form. The Selection Committee will select the best candidate for each of the scholarships.
• Upload letters of reference from people who can validate your academic and athletic excellence, as well as your community involvement. Your coach will be contacted by the selection committee to provide a reference to determine your athletic excellence as well as how you demonstrate Maverick values on and off the court.
