MYOF Launches its first “Pass it Forward” Campaign

Dear Maverick Family,

Thank you for the incredible support shown during the launch of the Maverick Youth Opportunities Fund (MYOF)! We’ve been truly touched by your encouragement, inquiries, donations, and engagement on social media. We are #mavsproud to have such a dedicated community!

Now that you’re familiar with our mission, we hope you feel as passionate as we do about empowering youth to reach their potential through volleyball. As we kick off our Pass it Forward Campaign on November 13th, we invite you to join us in making a meaningful impact.

Fundraising Goal:

$25,000 by December 31, 2024, for our financial assistance program. This would help at least 10 – 15 young athletes participate in recreational and competitive programs in 2025!

Why It Matters:

Funding is critical for athletes facing financial barriers. We are contacted consistently by young athletes who want to continue playing volleyball, but don’t want to be a burden on their families’ budget. We receive applications from parents who are desperate for help as they don’t want to tell their children that they can’t afford to pay for them to continue playing volleyball.

It is simple. Without assistance, these young players will miss out on being part of a team and playing a sport they love.

The Growing Need – The Facts:

• September 1, 2023 – August 31, 2024, MYOF (formerly the Maverick Benevolent Fund) provided $25,000 to 20 athletes.
• In September 2024 alone, MYOF received 15 financial applications for $23,500. We were able to disburse a total of $15,000 to 12 athletes, prioritizing those with the greatest financial challenges.
• Between now and August 2025, we are expecting between 15 – 20 financial applications for both recreational and competitive programs.

As a Maverick alumni, parent, player, or coach, please continue to contribute to the Maverick community and “Pass it Forward” to the next generation!

2. Volunteer – Submit your name to partnership@maverickyouthfund.ca to volunteer on our fundraising and event committee.
