Maverick Volleyball Club Launches New Charity to Break Financial Barriers and Empower Youth Through Sport

The Maverick Volleyball Club proudly announces the launch of the Maverick Youth Opportunities Fund (MYOF), a new charitable organization established to commemorate its 40th anniversary of delivering quality volleyball programs in the National Capital Region.

“Throughout my forty years with the Maverick Volleyball Club, I have seen firsthand how sport can instill valuable life skills, promote health and wellbeing, and build lasting community connections,” says Kerry MacLean, founder and president of the Maverick Volleyball Club.

“The creation of the Maverick Youth Opportunities Fund is deeply meaningful to me and our entire club. By breaking down financial barriers to sports participation, MYOF will significantly enhance our fundraising efforts, making a positive impact on youth, our community, and their future.”

The Maverick Youth Opportunities Fund operates independently of the Maverick Volleyball Club, with its own governance and operational structure. Its volunteer board is comprised of professionals who are equally passionate about sport and the possibilities it provides for youth.

“I am very honoured to be Chair of the Maverick Youth Opportunities Fund. I am a firm believer in the power of sport and its ability to teach youth important life skills that will provide them with a solid foundation for future success in their personal and professional life,” states Sheila Roy, chair of MYOF board of directors. “Everyone should have access to sport and have no limits to achieving their potential. Our board will work tirelessly to achieve this mission.”
