Essential Skills Program
Empowering Youth To Thrive
Do you have a program that teaches essential life skills to youth? Do you need some additional funding to help deliver this program?
The Maverick Youth Opportunities Fund (MYOF) would love to hear all about it! We are willing to invest in professional and results-based programs that empower youth to thrive in their daily lives and inspire them to contribute to their community in a meaningful and positive way.
For example, we are interested in programs that teach youth how to:
- Strengthen their leadership skills and confidence;
- Enhance their teamwork, cooperation, and communication abilities;
- Improve their physical literacy and healthy lifestyle habits;
- Be more aware of mental health and wellness strategies;
- Develop community connections and social responsibility;
- Be a positive influence in their schools and teams by being more aware of social issues and strategies to overcome them; or
- Any other skills they need to combat issues that affect our youth!
Community Service in Action

It was a wonderful success, with more than 20 residents either playing or cheering on their favourite team! After the physical activity, all the athletes assembled for refreshments and conversation. This initiative was designed to instil the values of the Maverick Way, and:
- Teach youth the value of community service and social responsibility;
- Provide residents companionship, joy, and stimulation through social and physical activities with youth;
- Help young athletes learn how to interact respectfully and thoughtfully with seniors;
- Create positive, uplifting intergenerational connections for residents and youth alike; and,
- Teach youth practical leadership skills, greater empathy, and the confidence that comes from giving back in a meaningful way.
