Thérèse Ngo has worked over 25 years for Federal Public Service of Canada in various roles and areas: Immigration and Citizenship, Public Law, Human Rights, Human Resources, Pensions, Harassment, Discrimination and Violence, Litigation Management, Risk and Compliance. She is a seasoned leader with over ten years’ experience as an Executive.
After completing her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Ottawa, she re-entered university in pursuit of a teaching degree. Having obtained her teaching credentials, Thérèse next decided to study law. Three years later, law degree firmly in hand, Thérèse realized that continuous learning was a priority in her life. Thérèse was an instructor in the Paralegal Program at La Cité Collégiale and at the University of Ottawa’s Common Law Program for a few years before starting her family. She coached younger athletes in various Maverick Volleyball programs.
Thérèse believes in diversity, inclusion and creating safe spaces in the workplace (and the gym!) and makes conscious decisions to build an inclusive culture and improve team engagement. She likes to take on roles that would help foster this vision both in a formal and informal capacity and has a proven record of being an equitable, inclusive and resilient leader. Thérèse is a lifelong learner, innovative and change leader, and has extensive experience in managing high performing cross-functional teams to implement national projects and initiatives through sound project management and change management best practices while leveraging technical solutions to address operational challenges. Furthermore, she is known by her peers to be a strong convenor and enabler who builds effective and collaborative networks and relationships with partners, colleagues and stakeholders to support delivery of horizontal initiatives.
In addition to the versatility of her work and the opportunity to advance her interests, Thérèse also enjoys dedicating her time to the Maverick Volleyball Club – as a social media facilitator, program developer, coach, team manager, treasurer and leader.
Last but not least, Thérèse is a proud mother of three amazing children, two who are currently in the Maverick Volleyball program and one who recently graduated from the program and playing volleyball for the Université de Moncton women’s varsity team. Thérèse supports her husband with their family business – pottery supplies and studio – by not standing in his way!

I believe that serving as a director on the Maverick Youth Opportunities Fund will be extremely rewarding. It’s a great opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the volleyball community by helping shape the future of the sport. Working with liked-minded and passionate individuals, athletes and community partners to promote inclusion, growth, and access to sport for all ages and skill levels are only a few reasons why I want to be part of this Furthermore, I will be part of a remarkable team that drives positive change, supports athletes, engages with community partners and ensures that the organization operates with integrity and sustainability – a great chance to combine my love for the sport, all while contributing to something greater!
